OTTAWA, 22 May 2018 – The 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and the Republic of Croatia was marked in the Parliament of Canada. The celebration was organised by the Canada-Croatia Parliamentary Friendship Group, gathering Canadian MPs, and by the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Canada.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and the Republic of Croatia, the Canadian-Croatian Business Network (CCBN) has decided to provide a scholarship to a Croatian student for a three-month internship in the Parliament of Canada.

“The bilateral, friendly and economic relations between Croatia and Canada can, today, 25 years after the establishment of diplomatic relations, be considered excellent. I’m especially pleased when Croatian returnees, active in the Croatian-Canadian Business Network, are involved in the development of mutual relations. I would like to thank the Canada-Croatia Parliamentary Friendship group for its support of this cooperation, and I wish the future student success during their studies and work”, said Marica Matković, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in Canada on the occasion of the celebration of 25 years of diplomatic relations in the Parliament of Canada.

The selected student will work as part of the team of a Canadian MP, and the internship programme is open to students of Edward Bernays University College.

“The CCBN is very happy to be able to organise this program for a Bernays student, who will gain valuable experience and knowledge as an intern in Canada’s Parliament. We believe this is an excellent opportunity for exchanging know how and strengthening relations between Canada and Croatia, while developing future leaders for a better tomorrow”, said Joe Bašić, CCBN President.
