The CCBN has been working closely with five other business chambers (American Chamber of Commerce in Croatia, Austrian Trade Commission, Association of Italian Entrepreneurs in Croatia, German-Croatian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and Nordic Chamber of Commerce in Croatia) and in consultation with the World Bank to develop the Business Climate Improvement Initiative. The initiative outlines three potentially „game-changing“ reforms that the Government should implement in order to make Croatia’s business environment more competitive and attractive for businesses and investors.

These reforms are Improved Regulation – to greatly reduce bureaucratic obstacles to businesses by introducing an effective and transparent mechanism to address complaints from local businesses about regulatory and bureaucratic inefficiencies; Fair and efficient public procurement – to ensure equitable treatment and efficient processing of all tender bids, leading to fewer bids being rejected for purely procedural reasons, and Accountability and predictability of public services – to ensure that Government offices are held accountable for proper implementation of existing laws and procedures, in order to remove administrative impediments to business.

The initiative was finalised and presented to the media and forwarded to the political parties for their consideration. The joint chambers have expressed their willingness to support the government efforts and to assist where needed in the form of technical assistance and advice.
